1. What is the class format like?
The group style classes are demonstrational in nature. Through the aid of an overhead camera, every student in the room can clearly see the keyboard and the teacher's hands as he/she works through techniques and musical examples from the Play Piano in a Flash Class book. The classes are designed to provide a fun and stress-free learning environment for learning how to play a keyboard or piano using a chord style, lead sheet based approach. One of the many benefits of utilizing a group format is the camaraderie and support that fellow classmates provide to each other. These classes are fun as well as effective!
2. What is the average class size?
The class size varies from class to class but averages between 10 to 20 students.
3. Will each student be sitting at a piano during class?
During class each student will have a practice keyboard to allow them to work on techniques, hand positioning, etc. that are discussed by the teacher. However, unlike traditional, private lessons, the weekly class time is NOT intended to be a practice session one on one with an instructor. The goal is to use the valuable weekly class time to receive information, and then to "get it underhand" at home throughout the week.
4. Who will be teaching the class?
All Play Piano in a Flash Class™ teachers are piano players who understand that you don't have to be overly talented to learn to play the keyboard or piano; They know that everyone who wants to play, can! These teachers are skilled at teaching group lessons that are fun and effective. Only teachers who are trained in presenting the Play Piano In A Flash Class™ course materials will be teaching your class.
5. How long does each class last?
The class meets once a week (60 minutes each week in duration) for a period of 8 weeks.
6. I don't have a piano or keyboard at home yet. Will this class still work for me?
Yes, absolutely! However, it is obviously beneficial to have some form of keyboard instrument to be able to reinforce skills taught during class. If you need help selecting an appropriate keyboard, please ask your teacher or someone at your local host site.
Know that most host sites have pianos that you can use ( most with headphone jacks); so we encourage you to come in anytime during business hours to play.
7. How do I know which class (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6) to sign up for?
Because the approach to playing piano in this style is so different from traditional piano lessons all the vast majority of students should start with class one.
8. What do I need to bring on the first day of class?
